The Ballad of Sucio's Frog
Due to popular demand, TP brings its cracked comedy about the carnivorous Frog to the main-stage at the National Hispanic Cultural Center, Albuquerque, New Mexico.
This quintessentially New Mexican story features Sucio Calzone, a farmer, or campesino, whose fields have been in his family since 1654. They lie between the mighty Río Grande and the Puertos del Cuerpo mountains of southern New Mexico. No one knows how old Sucio is, but he is, by far, the oldest person in Punta de Lanza. No one knows how rich he is, either, for he doesn’t keep his money in the bank. He is smart and knows more than one would think. Sucio is famous for several of his crops but he is figuring out how to deal with thieves that are invading his property and raiding his fields. He consults a local restaurant owner, an astronomer and a geneticist in hopes of creating a giant guard frog to protect his fields. As the cast of whacky characters embark on this ambitious project things become crazier and crazier creating a series of hilarious dilemmas resulting in an unforgettable story.
