Not Quite Right

Beginning Thursday, February 26, Teatro Paraguas proudly presents Not Quite Right, an upbeat family comedy by Elaine Jarvik and Los Alamos playwright Robert F. Benjamin for 10 performances.

Not Quite Right features a misshapen pot, a marathon dance and a three a.m. mêlée over "what's enough?" Three couples grapple with dueling expectations in the wee hours of the morning when everything seems, well, not quite right.

Beth Kennedy Jones directs the production. The actors include Kat Sawyer, Steven Oakey, Stephanie Dees, Cindy Coulter, R.J. Laino, and Alex Thorne.

Teatro Paraguas produced Robert F. Benjamin's smash hit Salt and Pepper in 2014, which was also directed by Beth Kennedy Jones. Salt and Pepper is a play of 7 intertwining tales about aging with humor grace and dignity. In 2010, Teatro Paraguas produced Benjamin's play about a crypto-jewish family in northern New Mexico entitled Parted Waters.

Elaine Jarvik’s full-length plays have been produced by The Salt Lake Acting Company, Pygmalion Productions and Plan-B Theatre. Her 10-minute play Dead Right was produced at the 2008 Humana Festival of New American Plays in Louisville, KY and is included in the textbook The Bedford Introduction to Literature. Her 10-minute play Music. Poem. Music. was produced by The Vortex Theatre in Albuquerque in 2010, where it won both the Jury Award and the Audience Favorite Award.

Performances are Thursdays through Saturdays at 7:30 pm, and Saturday and Sunday matinees at 2:00 pm, beginning February 26 and running through March 8 for a total of 10 performances.

Tickets are $20 general admission, $18 seniors, $15 students and union members. Tickets for the preview Thursday, February 26 are $10. Reservations may be made by calling 424-1601, or at <teatroparaguas@gmail.com>.
